BJ's wants to Adopt NFS for the next school year. We would enter into a partnership with BJ's to ~develop innovative support for curriculums ~ assist with fundraising w/BJ's
funded programs ~organize and sponsor community service programs that let children make a difference. Valerie would volunteer once per month at school function and help NFS
with different events on our calendar.

President Report: Teacher Appreciation Week: There are a lot of Thank You notes from the staff. It was very successful! Thank you to everyone who helped pull it together! School Budget Meeting City Council meeting 6/7 @ 7pm. Last public hearing before voting on budget. Wear white in support! Also, we have 44 packets of postcards
addressed to each council member for us to send to show our support. PEP: PEP is in jeopardy of being shut down. We need new ideas/fundraiser ideas and people to coordinate. Please think about joining Jennifer Nealon and myself
at an informational meeting on Monday June 5th @ 7pm. Teacher request for funds: for special items in classrooms. PTO will be sending around a notice for teachers. Lorraine Cole: Motion passed for Pam to spend some $ for a gift for Lorraine who has been at the school every Wednesday putting
together 'Wednesday packets'.
Principals Report: Teacher Appreciation Week: Thank your for a successful week. Budget Hearing: School Department increase of 6.7% probably being cut and it affects mostly new positions. Please show your support.
Environmental Camp fundraising: Everyone is hard at work, mini grants are being sought from Shaw's and Timberland.
Yearbooks Yearbooks are in and look great. First time it was done totally digital. They will be passed out sometime next week.
Last day of school: The last day of school is scheduled for June 19th. Release time is 12:30pm.
Committee Reports/Old Business: Craft Fair: Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11th. We are responsible for the bake table, food table, raffle and lunch breaks. Joyce will
give us $1,000 for the use of our name at the High School.
New Business: Lawn Fete: Is June 14, rain date June 15th. New attractions include slip-n-slide, spiderman jumpy house, kleidsdale horses and cart rides,
a 5 and dime candy shop. We need volunteers! Need cakes baked!
Lawn Fete Raffle There will be about 8 gift baskets to raffle off ranging in value from $75 - $175. And a bike!!

Not a lot of activity this month. Cheryl will be at next month's meeting with a full report.
President Report: Mama D's: Thank you to Mary Chavez for organizing Mama D's fundraiser - made $263.12 that evening. Suggested Environmental School do another night there. Ice Cream Social: Profited $317.00! Thank you to Mary Chavez for organizing & Gina Patch her help with & also designing the hall bulletin board. Red Hook Dance: April 1, 7-11 pm. Tickets are being sold, $10.00 now, $12.00 at the door. Need centerpieces for the tables.
Brindall Grant offered to make them! Thanks Brindall!! Wednesday packets: Pam will call Nancy and help her develop a better schedule for this. We still need a few more volunteers. NCLB: As we know, Pam attended a meeting last month. They have now decided to host information nights at each school to spread the word.
Ours will be held on April 12, before the next PTO meeting and Dr. Lister, or his assistant, will be in attendance.
Principals Report: Parent Directory : Someone asked about a parent directory for NFS. Pam asked for a volunteer to come forward and take this on.
(No takers at the meeting. If interested, contact Mr. Shea or Pam Shore) Funds: Reports that the field trip fund is low. Mr. Shea will contact Cheryl and have her transfer funds. Memory Books: Inquiries into the budgeted amount allotted for the Memory Books. Seems we may have over budgeted. Mr. Shea will inform us as this project progresses. Kindergarten Registration: Would like help from the PTO at Kindergarten Registration. Need two volunteers for the morning session and another two for the afternoon session.
Mary will help organize this. AIR: The Artist in Residence has asked for lodging for her fiddler on Sunday evening. (Jeff "Smokey" McKeen) Jen Fahey made a motion to pay for a room, Mary seconded.
In the meantime, Brindall Grant has offered to look for free lodging. Student Showcase: May 13th will be the Spring Student Showcase. Time to come in and see what's been happening in the school all year. Would PTO like to serve refreshments, sell something? This will be discussed at the next meeting. Kindergarten-Full Day Proposal: A full day proposal is going in front of the School Board at Monday night's meeting. There is not a lot to report at this time. More to come.

New Business: Environmental School Update: Jeannette MacDonald See financial report. Also, coffee cakes and chocolate bunny fundraiser has started. Need to place order by March 27. Will be available week before Easter.
Teacher Appreciation Week: Is in May. Pam sent around a sign up sheet for volunteers. Last year we gave teachers and staff a nice surprise each day.
Nurse update, Barbara Pamboukes: Walking club will start Wednesday, March 22. "CPR for Family and Friends" was held this evening. That series has come to an end. Thanks to Barbara and the other school nurses for doing this!

We're a little ahead for next year. Maybe we can have another program offered to children this fall.
President Report: Thanks you: Thank you to Margaret Hutchins for the Riff distribution and Tara for work on newsletters. Ice Cream Social: Ice cream social will be ice cream only. Student council will stand at door to collect money and give leis. Red Hook Dance: April 1 is the adult dance. Ticket price to be determined over email meeting. Wednesday packets: Need more helpers. Nancy Knowles has been calling around for helpers but only Lorraine has been doing it.
Only takes one hour & begins just after 8:00am. Please consider helping with this. Misc: Looking into donating $30.00 to school to use colored paper for copies. NCLB: Pam attending the No Child Left Behind meeting. The group would like to inform and educate more people on this subject.
Looking to gather a large panel of professionals to assemble and invite "big wigs" to attend. Want ideas to make this more appealing to the
masses. Suggestions from our group: Art show of children's work and a variety of letters to go out hitting all "levels" of people.
Principals Report: Newsletter: Thanks to Tara for her work with the newsletter collaboration between the schools. RIFF: Riff was huge success. Theme was great. Thanks Margaret SASS: Feb. 13-15 SASS will present program to 2-4th graders about personal safety and comfort levels. Lunch: Children appear less frustrated coming back from lunch. Not missing the a.m. recess because there is still an option for a break. Walkers: Release going well for overall timing. Encourage parents to wait outside to prevent confusion and congestion, or at least take children out quickly so bussers can line up.
Issues with new release: Traffic - Please don't block people in. Looking at creating other traffic patterns and child releasing for more efficiency.

Artist in Residence: To begin on March 20th. Performance on Friday afternoon. Family contra dance on Friday night, 3/24,
in conjunction with Title One. They will supply food. Need volunteers for this.

of the year. Then the school department will buy a sanitizer product for all classrooms. So far, no influenza. 39 cases reported locally.
Have seen it south of us. PLEASE KEEP UP HAND WASHING PRACTICES AT HOME AND SCHOOL. Keep sick kids home. Students are showing signs of dehydration.
Have them bring water bottles to school and also lip balm. Running out of hats and mittens. Looking for donations.

Principals Report: Scholarship: Annual scholarship applicants will be coming soon from the High School. Lunch & Recess: There has been good feedback from the kids about the extended lunch and recess. Photo Printer: NFS purchased a photo printer that can be used with digital cards. PTO welcome to use it. Located in the copy room.
Presidents Report: Sweatshirt sale: Profit of $762.10. Purchasing 50+ t-shirts and sweatshirts to sell at upcoming events passed. Ice Cream Social: Date set for February 21st, snow date of February 23rd. Hawaiin theme. Koz to DJ. Committee Reports: Craft Fair: Finance Committee met and came up with 3 suggestions for future events to be forwarded to the Organizer, Joyce Sanderson:
1. NFS PTO handles food/raffle/bake sale tables ONLY 2. NFS PTO completely washes hands of the Fair. 3. NFS PTO and Joyce Sanderson splits all profits
and work 50/50 with renegotiated contracts in place. Suggestions were sent to Organizer on 1/10/06. Waiting to hear from Organizer. Artist in Residence:: Mary DeRosier is a folk/contra dance caller. She is set to come in 3/20 through 3/24/06 with a culminating dance on the 24th. There will be a band
and the event will be in the evening accompanied with a Title 1 dinner. Mary will be focusing on historical projects with at least one song with
each class. K-2 - dance with a theme; 3rd - Seacoast; 4th - NH; 5th: Colonial America Teacher's Rep:: Curious of the process for getting money for projects. No process in place, PTO will work on. Meanwhile, submit suggestions in writing.

PEP VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR 2005-2006 - We are in need of a new PEP Coordinator Volunteer for NFS. Duties include finding people to teach programs,

Principals Report: Holiday Shoppe:: Fourth Graders expressed an interest in having the Holiday Shoppe up and running. There is a petition in the works.
A small group will meet with the PTO President to discuss Dismissal Procedures: Dismissal length seems to be a problem. We will start releasing walkers first. We will bring the children
right out front and parents can stay in their cars. This will take some getting used to. If there is no one there to meet them, the children
will be brought back to the classroom and released after the buses leave. There will be no more need to come in and sign out your children.
New Dismissal procedure to start on 12/12/05. Lunch & Recess: We will be starting to extend lunch and recesses. Lunch will be 20 minutes and then 20 minutes outside for recess. Eventually,
recess will be before lunch. For now, lunch will be first until we are used to it. This will go into effect on January 9, 2006. Also, 10 am recess will be modified.
Recess will be in the classrooms with outside optional.
Presidents Report: Thank You!: Jeannette MacDonald for the Election Day Bake Sale, Betsy Pearl and Sue Carrell for the Teacher's Luncheon, Samantha LeBlanc
for running the Gift Wrap Sale, Jen Fahey, George Shea and everyone who worked and the Craft Fair and Ilysse Sirmaian and Brindall Grant for the beautiful
baskets in the Basket Raffle. Sweatshirt sale: We sold 104 sweatshirts making a profit of $800 +/-. They are due in next week before Christmas break. Parent Health Nights: All the Portsmouth School Nurses are coordinating Parent Health Nights at all the schools. March will be at
NFS and will be a CPR night. New Business: Momma D's fundraiser:: Set for January 23rd. See Mary Chavez for details.
Committee Reports: Craft Fair: Profit of $5645.13. We need to come up with a few options for next year. New committee formed to come up with business plan
for the Craft Fair. See Jen Fahey if you want to be involved. Artist in Residence:: Choice #1: Mary DeRosier is a folk/contra dance caller. She studied and recorded all the songs "Pa" did from Little House on the Prairie.
Can do a history of the Pioneers. Can teach dances, Sailor songs, folk tales and culminate with a family dance accompanied by a fiddler.
Choice #2: Puppet Master HaPenny Theatre. Cost is $350 per day and needs help from parents to make puppets. Also, wants 1 hour sessions.
Choice #1 was unanimously voted for. Note: There is a Grant available to match AIR funds. Need to form an Art Committee. Teacher's Rep:: Thank you so much for the goodies on Conference Day! Also, someone is donating a whole bunch of rubber ducks if wanted.

There were three (3) checks passed: $1000 for programs, $500 to library and $350 to RIF.
Principals Report: Open House:: Out of 248 students, 157 were represented (approx. 62%). Excellent turnout! New Report Card: The School Board approved a new Report Card which focuses more on skills. Probably rolled out
sometime early next year. Lunch/recess: There is a school wide team in place to deal with concerns, i.e., length of lunch is too short and

Presidents Report: Thank You: Jen Fahey & Missy Hathaway for Coins for Katrina, Brindall Grant for a successful Book Fair,
Tara Mikela for the New Franklin newsletter and Samantha LeBlanc for the Wrapping Paper fundraiser Care Committee: Jennifer Padgett would like to start a Care Committee for people/families in need. No money,
just have a list of people willing to help when called upon (baking, time, etc.). Anyone interested, please see Jennifer
New Business: Artist in Residence Committee:: Need 2 people to help find an Artist in Residence. Budget $2K, 1 week teaching kids
and preferably performance at the end. Amy Brngr & JoAnne Adinolfi have volunteered to head up this committee. Election Day Bake Sale: Set for Nov. 8th. We need someone to help schedule and coordinate this event held in the school gym. Teacher Conference Day Lunch: Betsy Pearl and Sue Carell will heading this up again this year. Brainstorming of new ideas:: Everyone came up with some great new ideas for fun and fundraising!
Committee Reports: Red Cross:: Our grand total was $1550! Cheryl should be delivering the check Oct. 6th to the Red Cross. Book Fair: Brindall Grant reported total of $3486.40. Profit to the library was $2091.84 worth of books and
teachers' wish lists fulfilled. Craft Fair: We currently are in need of lots of volunteers for helping unload vendors in the morning, bake table, raffle table, etc.
We are doing a different raffle this year. Each classroom will be picking a theme for a basket and will be asked to donate a small item
to fill the basket. Each basket will then be raffled off at the craft fair. For details, please see Ilysse Sirmaian. Wrapping Paper:: As of tonight, only 6 people returned their orders! Holiday Home Tour:: Jennifer Nealon reported. Sun., Dec. 11, 4-8pm. Need sponsorships from local businesses. $250 will buy lots of
advertising. We need to raise $23K for the afterschool programs all year long.
Teacher's Report: Artist in Residence:: A lot of teachers enjoyed the Irish folk performance. Thought about
"Poetry Alive", combining Authors (Tracy Kane, Laurie Burbine?) or a Cultural thing - Susie Burke?

Kudos to the PTO so far this school year! Parents & Staff have been great.
We have a "high octane" PTO and I am looking forward to working with them throughout the year.
There will be statewide testing for grades 3 through 5.
In the presence of children, we will address parents and staff members as Mr. or Miss or Mrs.
Presidents Report: Kindergarten Orientation: Parents did a great job showing new parents around and welcoming them into NFS Red Cross Yard Sale: We raised $950.08! This was a great first fundraiser for a great cause. We still have the
coin drive until the end of September Guideline sheets for Committees: This is in the works and coming soon.
New Business: Volunteer Coordinators:: Samantha LeBlanc and Mary Chavez are the new Volunteer Coordinators. Wrapping Paper Fundraiser: Set to start Sept. 16th Hannaford Helps Schools: A great supplemental fundraiser for just grocery shopping! Notices going out soon. PEP Holiday Home Tour:: The money from this event runs our after school programs. Without it, we will have no programs!
Committee Reports: Coin Drive:: Jen Fahey reported that 'Coins for Katrina' goal is $500. It will run for 2 full weeks. Notices go home this week. Book Fair: Brindall Grant reported that the Scholastic Book Fair starts Sept. 20- 27. Still need LOTS of volunteers!
The money raised goes directly back into our library for new books. New this year - "One for Books". Craft Fair: Jen Fahey reported that the annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair will be held Nov. 12th.
