The school garden behind the school has been irreparably overrun by a highway-side invasive weed, leaving New Franklin as the only Portsmouth elementary school without a garden. The PTO is teaming up with Administrative Assistant Kim Kumph and 5th grade teacher Emma Newman on building a new garden by the Stark Street entrance to the school. Mrs. Newman has started drawing up plans and we will need lots of help with planning, funding, building and digging!
Can you help plan and care for the garden?Mrs. Kumph is putting together a garden committee for those interested in helping to plan and care for the garden. If you would like to join, send her an email! [email protected].
Can you help Build the Garden? If you like to lend a hand and/or equipment to dig and build the new garden, please reach out to Nellie Clark! [email protected]
Can you Help Find Sponsors?Do you know any local businesses would like to donate materials or sponsor this effort? please reach out to Nellie Clark! [email protected]
Can You Help repurpose the old Garden? The staff at the school would like to repurpose the old garden as an outdoor educational space. For this to happen, we'll need to resurface over the weeds with cement or artificial turf. If you have connections that can help us out with either of these solutions, please reach out to Kim Kumph [email protected].
